Motorola Rambler – A Filp-Style QWERTY Phone for Texting Teenagers

The Motorola Rambler, another messaging-centric phone with a full QWERTY keypad, has arrived on the Boost Mobile network. Packed with decent mid-range features like threaded messaging, email, Web browsing and video capture, it is a sleek and compact handset that lets you handle your daily communication with ease.

The Rambler sports a unique clamshell design, which we don't see on QWERTY messenger devices very often. Weighing in at 3.81 ounces and measuring in at 3.7" high by 2.24" wide by 0.7" deep when closed, the phone is slightly larger than the average flip-out handsets. You get two color screen displays: a 1.6-inch external one and a 2.2-inch TFT (65,000 colors, 176 x 220 pixels) internal one. Below the main display there is a QWERTY keypad with support for iTap predictive text entry.
The comfortable keypad perfectly complements the set of enhanced messaging capabilities offered by the Rambler. To start with, you get popular instant messaging clients such as AIM, Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger. It is also integrated with text and multimedia messaging in threaded conversations, allowing you to read a trail of messages just like using IM. And if you want to access your email accounts, there is an email application that connects to various providers, including AOL, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and more.

The Rambler does not come with a music or video player, but it offers a 1.3-megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom and video capturing function. GPS with TeleNav GPS Navigator is also onboard for you to quickly find directions and other points of interest on the go. In addition, the phone boasts a Myriad mobile Web browser, a 600-entry phonebook, a 2.5mm headset jack, a speakerphone, stereo Bluetooth technology 2.0, voice mail and voice commands. However, there is no microSD card slot, which means you have to store your files on the phone's 256MB internal memory.

The Motorola Rambler is obviously built for people who text on a regular basis. And if you happen to be on a budget and don't want to be stuck with a service contract, it would make a nice option as well.
