Review: Fighter Within (Xbox One)

Fighter Within Ubisoft Fighting GameReview by Nick H.

The decision to keep the Xbox One at at higher price tag in order to include the Kinect 2.0 with the system was a controversial point for Microsoft. On the one hand, it makes sense that Microsoft would want to ensure that this device, which it has heavily invested in, has a 100 per cent install base with its consoles so developers know it is going to be there.

Review: LocoCycle (Xbox One)

LocoCycle Game ReviewReview by Nick H.

Almost every video game tries to suck you in with at least one really catchy hook. Some use an interesting story filled with deep, multifaceted characters. Other titles have a gameplay mechanic that really stands out, such as a levelling system or exciting set of combos you can pull off. Others provide deep, customisable multiplayer. LocoCycle by Twisted Pixel Games really does not do any of the above, but I still found it to be fun.

Review: Zumba Fitness World Party (Xbox One)

Zumba Fitness Xbox OneReview by Nick H.

There are a lot of new titles for the Xbox One, but one of those I was most curious about was Zumba Fitness World Party - and not even for me, but for my family. My wife and daughters love to dance, but of the three only my youngest probably qualifies as a gamer. This was a big test for the Xbox One and its new Kinect.

Hardware review: the Xbox One

Review by Nick H.

After plenty of build-up over the last half year, both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One have finally released. We took a look at the PlayStation 4 last week, and you can see our review of it here. Now that we have had a chance to put the Xbox One through its paces, it is time to share those early impressions.

A fond farewell to the last generation

Opinion by Nick H.

It's hard to believe the next generation of consoles is right around the corner. I suppose a fair point could be made that the Wii U actually kicked that generation, though many people felt it was more of a midway pit stop than a full on upgrade in technology. Am I excited to get my hands on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One controllers? Absolutely - but there was a great deal to love about the Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well.

Brutal Gamer News Wrap: 10/31/13

Happy Halloween everybody! This week's edition of the News Wrap covers the announcement of The Walking Dead season 2, sees the Wii U continue to struggle at retail, Blockbuster re-enter administration and Microsoft deny (deny, deny) that there's anything wrong with the Xbox One's OS.

Strider is looking very sharp so far

There has not been a lot of information about Strider released yet, but Capcom has shared out some new screens of this upcoming HD remake.

Metal Gear Solid; focusing in on the boobs, yay or nay?

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain garnered a lot of attention when it was first teased, and now the prologue Ground Zeroes is starting to draw quite a bit of attention as well - but the big question is, is it drawing attention for the right things?

The visuals look amazing, and the promise of 60 frames per second is obviously nice, but Kojima's recent comments that they wanted to make the upcoming character Quiet to be more erotic and sexy raised a few eyebrows.

Nothing about the whole "shooting the living bejeebus out of enemies" bit, of course. It's the sexiness that is a threat to our global morality.
