Interview: Nnooo on Aussie development, game shows, and deadly bunnies

Interview by Aidan B.

One of our favourite local developers was at the EB Games 2013 expo in a big way. Nnooo, having now picked up the publisher's role for two locally developed games on console, had three games to show off at the show.

Not a bad effort for a tiny team of three.

Aidan Broadbent stole Nnooo's Creative Director, Nic Watt, away from his stand for a few moments to have a chat about how he found this year's show, as well as some of the challenges and opportunities that he sees in the local industry.

Interview: Aussie indie on game development and the challenges of Kickstarter

Interview by Aidan B.

At the EB Games Expo 2013, one of the more entertaining sections was the Aussie indies section. Australia has a growing collection of high quality developers operating in small teams creating innovative and creative games, largely free of the constraints of working for a larger developer.

One of the indies that we spoke to there was Dale Ward, of Evil Aliens, a Canberra-based indie currently producing Orbitor, a creative little gravity-based puzzle game that is also coming to consoles courtesy of Nnooo. This game was one of our highlights of the show, and we sat down with Ward to chat with him about the experience of attending the EB Games Expo, his ideas for this game and future releases, and his thoughts on Australian games development and Kickstarter

The top 10 games to look forward to: EB Games Expo 2013 edition

EB Expo was bigger and better in 2013. Much bigger and better. It was a who's who of the Australian games industry, from the big international publishers right down to the tiny local indies churning out top quality stuff for PC and mobile.

We've got an absolute wealth of hands-on previews, interviews and opinion pieces to come over the next week, but we thought it would be a good idea to also get the team together (that being Matt, Owen, Aidan and Sam) and come up with our top 10 games to look forward to. The below ten games are the ones that impressed us more than anything else, and these games should all be very high on your "to play" list.

And in no particular order:

Aussie indie hit, Orbitor, coming to consoles courtesy of Nnooo

The folks at Nnooo have been busy. It has only been a few short months since the developer announced it was taking a step into publishing in order to bring Cubemen 2 to the Wii U. Now it has taken on its second publishing project; the very high quality Aussie indie release, Orbitor.
