Google Gesture Search: Innovative Way to Search Your Android Phone

The Google Labs application for Android-powered phones allows you to find phone data, including contacts, installed apps, music tracks and browser bookmarks, using written gestures. Start your search by scribbling an English letter on your phone’s touchscreen, and a list of results for your query will show up instantly. Gesture Search will narrow down the options letter by letter. For the moment, the app only recognizes English alphabet.
In case the letter you drew on the screen resembles another one, the software will pull up results for both for you to choose from. You can also delete the last entered letter by swiping from right to left, or start a new search by swiping from left to right. Another nice feature is its ability to learn from your search history, so your previous search results will be brought up to the top of the list.
Initially, the app was available for devices running Android 2.0 or higher in the U.S., which are currently found on Motorola DROID and Google Nexus One only. But later, Google announced that it also supports Android 1.6 devices, such as Motorola Devour, T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile MyTouch 3G. Moreover, users outside the country can also download the software – as long as they have access to Android Market.
If you are using one of the Android 1.6+ handsets, get the app from Android Market for free, and you don’t have to flick through long lists or bring up the keyboard when you need a quick search.
