Casio G'zOne Boulder (Verizon) – An All-in-one Durable Handset for the Outdoors

The Casio G’zOne Boulder from Verizon Wireless is the successor to the Type-V and the Type-S of the military-certified G’zOne series. Yet, underneath its tough and rugged exterior, the Boulder is also packed with some multimedia features that can keep you entertained on the move.

Built to resist water, shock, dust and other harsh environments, the G’zOne Boulder is a rough cell phone that can take a beating. It features a locking mechanism to hold the battery cover in place, and uses tight rubberized covers to protect all the ports. The clamshell phone comes with a small round display on the outside, while the internal OVGA display measures 2.0 inches and supports 65,000 colors.

Designed for mobile workers, the Boulder comes with some great features such as Verizon’s push-to-talk service for fast two-way communications. It is also compatible with Field Force Manager, the carrier’s resource management tool that helps businesses track, monitor and communicate with their mobile workforce. Outdoorsmen will find extra tools like the built-in flashlight and electronic compass useful as well. Other essential call functions include speakerphone mode, vibrate mode, voice commands and voice-activated dialing.

Equipped with 3G support, the Boulder is connected to Verizon’s V Cast Video service, allowing you to view streaming video clips. With V Cast Music with Rhapsody, you can purchase and download songs directly to the phone. Moreover, the handset has GPS with VZ Navigator, offering not only audible turn-by-turn directions, but also location information to over 14 million points of interest in the U.S.

Furthermore, the Boulder is packed with a 1.3-megapixel camera with video recording ability, a mobile Web browser, a 500-entry phone book, Web email support (for AOL Mail, Windows Live and Yahoo Mail), text and multimedia messaging, Bluetooth 2.0 and a microSD card slot that accepts up to 8GB. Coming in at 3.9" high by 2.0" wide by 0.9" thick and weighing 4.9 ounces, the Boulder maintains its portability while giving a solid feeling in hand. It is now available in two color schemes: black/silver and orange/black.

Overall, with its rugged nature and extra feature package, the Verizon G’zOne Boulder is a handset that won’t disappoint the sporty and outdoor crowds.
