The EVO runs on the latest Android software but uses HTC's Sense interface. The latter brings you seven home screens that can be customized with different Scene themes. You will also find new features such as Friend Stream, which puts your social networking updates in one single place, and the Leap thumbnail view, which lets you switch between home screens easily. As for the Android OS, it offers an array of Google mobile services, including Google Talk, Gmail, Google Voice, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Goggles, Android Market and more.
Taking advantage of Sprint's 4G network, the EVO delivers blazingly fast data speeds for Web browsing, media streaming and app downloads. The smartphone also comes with YouTube's HQ video player and a standard Web browser supporting Adobe Flash and automatic text reflowing. With mobile hotspot functionality, the EVO can be connected with up to eight devices to share the 4G experience.
Besides, the phone integrates an HDMI port, meaning you can stream high-definition pictures, slides and videos to your television. In addition to the 8.0-megapixel camera that shoots HD videos, the EVO has a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for making video calls via the Qik video chat application. There is even a kickstand on the back that turns your handset into a mini desktop TV.
Furthermore, the EVO sports a speakerphone, a 3.5mm headset jack, an MP3 player, an FM radio and a digital compass. Messaging options include threaded text and multimedia messaging, instant messaging plus personal and business email. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, USB mass storage and voice commands. You will find some pre-installed Sprint apps like Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation. In addition to 1GB of built-in memory, the EVO also comes equipped with a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of memory expansion.
If you are an intensive Web user and also live in a place covered by the carrier's 4G network, the HTC EVO 4G will certainly blow your mind with its groundbreaking speed and robust multimedia features.
