3 Ways to Maximise Your Smartphone’s Battery Life

As much as we love the beautiful design, high speed and extensive functionality of our precious smartphone, there is always one aspect that we aren’t quite satisfied with: battery power. But considering all the energy-draining tasks we use our device to do everyday – running apps, checking emails, browsing the Web, watching movies, playing games, etc. – it is in fact understandable that they cannot make it through the end of the day. So, to help you conserve power and keep your phone running longer, we have a few tips for you:

1. Change Your Smartphone Settings

Optimising the settings of your smartphone means switching off unnecessary yet power-sucking features and turning down adjustable ones.

You can start with your screen display by manually dimming the screen brightness, or choosing the auto-brightness feature that automatically adjusts the brightness to suit ambient lighting conditions. Reducing the screen timeout period (the duration the screen stays lit after receiving input) also extends the battery life.

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS tracking functions are serious battery suckers, which is why you should turn them off when you are not using them. Other simple tweeks to reduce your phone’s power consumption include limiting push notifications, ending unneeded apps running in the background, and disabling the vibrate function.

2. Use A Reliable Battery Management App

Another way to improve battery life is to download a trustworthy battery monitoring app to keep yourself updated with your smartphone’s energy level. Whether your device is powered by Android, iOS, or other platform, you can find a slew of power managing apps from their app store. A good battery manager allows you to keep a closer eye on power drains and get every last bit of juice left before your phone needs a recharge. Of course, you should be careful of malware when you are choosing an app. Do some online research before download.

3. Bring A Backup Battery Pack or A Battery Powered Case

Apart from basic powering accessories like travel chargers, car chargers and batteries, it would be wise to get a backup battery pack or a battery charging case for times when you are en route or can’t find a power outlet nearby.

Portable battery packs provides a number of charging options – you can charge your device from sunlight, indoor light, a USB-powered port, or a power outlet. Usually come with several connectors, they are suitable for charging a variety of mobile phones and tablets. Some also sport other handy functions like flashlight and FM radio.

If a battery pack is not your thing, try a battery charging case. The dual-function case serves as a portable power source and a protective phone cover at the same time. It may be bulkier and heavier than your normal case, but the extra talk and play time it provides is totally worth it.

With all these useful tips and add-ons, you should be able to boost your smartphone’s battery life and squeeze every last drop of precious juice from it!
