Samsung Eternity (a867) – Full-Touch QWERTY Keypad with Full Multimedia Features

Released for AT&T, Samsung Eternity (a867) is a touchscreen phone that comes with a classy black and chrome exterior and an intuitive user interface. It is not a smartphone; yet it is a strong feature phone that packs a wide range of advanced features.

The Eternity sports a 3.2" touchscreen with haptic support, giving subtle vibration that confirms selections. With a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, the display is bright and sharp, performing better than most other feature phones. The resistive touchscreen relies on pressure like PDA phone screens, so any stylus will work with the device.

Text entry is quick and easy on the Eternity’s roomy touchscreen. The keys are large and the layout is customized at times; a number-pad will appear if the phone is opened in portrait mode, but you will find a full-touch QWERTY keyboard if you tilt the phone and open it in landscape mode. The phone’s keypad also enables convenient text input during web browsing by offering buttons for ".com" and www..

The Eternity runs Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user interface, which is a great home screen UI that allows customization. By dragging "widgets" from the phone’s desktop to the launcher dock on the left, users can access the shortcuts anytime and quickly jump to their favorite features on the device. However, you can only choose which "widgets" to appear on the dock, but will not be able to add new ones.

Regarding multimedia functions of the Eternity, the phone has a 3.0-megapixel camera that can capture both still pictures and videos. Note that there is one thing special on the device: it offers an excessive suite of editing options, including custom frames and clip art. Users can also apply several different effects on the photos and make editing more fun.

Carried by AT&T, Eternity supports a range of multimedia features, such as AT&T Mobile TV, and AT&T Mobile Music that lets you play and download all of your favorite tunes and ringtones. What’s more, the device has a built-in MicroSD memory slot that supports up to 8GB, so you can save all your tunes and bring them around with you.

To enjoy all these entertainment contents, you will need a 3.5mm headset, or you can stream the files to compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones since the device is equipped with A2DP function. Bluetooth connectivity on the phone also includes profiles for communication headsets, hands-free car kits and file transfer.

Measuring a dimension of 4.3" x 2.2" x 0.5" (H x W x D), the Eternity is rather small in size, allowing it to be easily used one-handed. If you are looking for a touchscreen phone at a reasonable price, yet coming with lots of multimedia possibilities, a good camera and a full HTML web browser, the Samsung Eternity a867 will be your choice.
