Verizon Samsung Omnia (i910) – Everything You Could Wish For

By naming the smartphone "Omnia", which means "Everything" in Latin and "Wish" in Arabic, Samsung is expressing their expectations on the full touchscreen device – Omnia (i910) is everything you could wish for in a phone. The all-in-one device brings together all advanced business and wireless features to meet the needs of modern users.

The highlight of Omnia is its 3.2" TFT touchscreen that dominates the front side of the smartphone. With the intuitive TouchWiz user interface, everything you need is just one touch away. You can customize your Home screen by placing different "widgets" on the main screen, so as to achieve quick access to certain functions.

Running the latest version of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional also makes Omnia an attractive WM device, for it is able to extend PC experience to cell phone. You can easily access MS Office documents using the Microsoft Office Mobile Suite, or sync with Outlook calendar, tasks and contacts via Exchange Server.

Moreover, users can enjoy real-time email delivery with Microsoft's Direct Push. You can also reach your POP3 and IMAP email accounts with configurations. Other messaging options on board include SMS, MMS and visual voice mail. To input text, you can use the on-screen QWERTY keyboard, or use the stylus for greater accuracy.

For Web browsing, you can go for the Opera Mobile Web browser if you do not want the traditional Internet Explorer Mobile. With Opera, you can open different tabs in the browser, zoom in pages by double-taps, and also bookmark Web sites.

Web browsing, emails and downloads are fast and smooth on Omnia, thanks to Verizon’s EV-DO Rev. A network support. The device also ships with a nice array of wireless features, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, as well as Bluetooth 2.0 for mono and stereo headsets.

Apart from serving business needs, Omnia also offers robust multimedia features. It is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera and camcorder for capturing still pictures and videos, and also the Standard Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for playing tunes. The music player supports various file formats including MP3, WMA, MP4 and DivX, and it is even the first device that has built-in support for XviD videos.

Omnia offers a MicroSDHC slot for memory expansion up to 16GB, but users have to remove the battery before reaching the slot, which some users may find it a bit inconvenient. Also, the device comes with a proprietary headphone jack, instead of a 3.5mm one. So you will need an audio adapter if you wish to plug in a nicer pair of headphones.

Measuring dimensions of 4.4" x 2.24" x 0.51" (H x W x D), Samsung Omnia (i910) is a slim and compact device that strikes a perfect balance between business features and multimedia capabilities. It will, undoubtedly, stay as a strong competitor in today’s smartphone market.
