iPhone: Appealing to Both Young and Old

The general belief goes like this: "typical users" of the overwhelmingly popular iPhone should be young people who surf the Web with the Safari browser, or check out the App store to look for games and entertainment. However, Nielsen Wire has broken the stereotype by unveiling the results of its recent survey.
Survey results show that iPhone users in the U.S. span from all ages. Among roughly 6.4 million active iPhone owners in the country, number of users aged 13 to 24 almost equals those aged 55 or above, at 18% and 17% respectively, while most of the users are found in the age group of 35 to 54, occupying 36% of the total.

It is somehow interesting to find that the smartphone is equally appealing to both young and old, since most handsets target at a particular age group or users with specific usage patterns. For example, Nokia E71x and BlackBerry Bold 9000 are designed for business users, while heavy text messaging users can pick LG enV3 or Samsung Exclaim (m550); all of them come with distinct features for meeting specific needs.

Nielsen’s research has also found out what users mostly do with their iPhone. Around 88% of the respondents use the device for browsing the Internet, 75% for downloading apps and 72% using location-based services. About 37% of users watch videos on their smartphone, which is 6 times more than that of typical subscribers.

There are many accessories for iPhone available on the market. You can enjoy music and videos through a stereo headset for better audio performance, or stay connected while driving with a Bluetooth headset. Also, with a travel charger, you can power up your device when you are out of town, so you can enjoy the apps without worrying about low battery.

Go find out more about iPhone accessories, and pick suitable ones to further enhance smartphone experience on your device.
