Apple’s iPhone 3G Falls to ‘Breakthrough Price’ at US$99

Apple has halved the price of its entry-level 8GB iPhone 3G to $99, which is now available at AT&T stores on a 2-year contract.

The company has announced the price-cut at its annual Worldwide Developers’ Conference held on June 08, with Apple’s Marketing Chief Phil Schiller calling it a "breakthrough price". Apple hopes that the big discount can widen the gadget’s appeal in the market, as the global competition intensifies.

Morgan Stanley foresees double sales volume of the discounted entry-level iPhone, which was previously priced at $199. Apple said it has sold over 40 million units of iPhones and music-player iPodTouch to date, up from the 37 million reported in April 2009.

For those seeking an entry-level smartphone, the iPhone 3G is certainly a great choice especially with the 50%-off. While buying a new cell phone, you can also get more from your device by equipping it with quality and suitable accessories, hence ensuring smoother operation.

When carrying your iPhone 3G around with you, you will need a holster or a protector, so as to keep the device away from unwanted scratches or damages. A stylus for iPhone enables faster and easier text entry on your device. Getting an external mini battery pack, or a charger, can also keep you connected with friends and family wherever you are.
