Among the population, Apple’s iPad plays a dominant role with over 70% share in the market.  While Apple still secures a leading position in this relatively new and growing field, its overall share has dipped 4 percentage points from three months ago. And its rivals, especially Samsung who now claims 7% share in the market, are fast approaching and putting much stress on the American consumer electronics giant. For instance, Samsung has beaten iPad 2 across many performance measures such as Sturdiness and Reliability.

While the report did not shed light on the demographics of the market, another report published by Digital Britain a few months ago is likely to give us some helpful though not up-to-the-minute information.  According to the report, more males than females use tablets in Britain, with 7% for the former and 5% the latter. Young affluent people, aged from 25 to 34, happen to be the majority of the owners, with the 18 to 24 year-olds following closely behind.
   
The tablet market has certainly yet to grow. A lot of research regarding the pattern of ownership as well as that of usage in this booming market still needs to be done so as to find out how our lives are blending with the broad set of devices.
